We are here for you!

A key to preventing infection and reducing anxiety is to be educated about COVID-19. Stay up to date by reading our daily updates and FAQ.

What is COVID-19?  COVID-19 stands for “coronavirus disease 2019”.  Coronaviruses are viruses that cause the common cold and upper respiratory infections.

How is COVID-19 spread?   COVID-19 spreads to others through exposure to the virus by sneezing, coughing, touching surfaces or objects contaminated, and then touching the mouth, nose or eyes.

Prevent the spread of illness

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, use the same precautions you would for the flu and common cold. Valor Health recommends these infection-prevention practices:

  • If you’re sick, stay home. Call your provider if you suspect you have the virus.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve – not your hands – when coughing or sneezing.
  • Clean your home, workspace, shared items and other frequented locations.
  • Avoid unnecessary contact with sick individuals or large groups where there is a higher risk of spreading germs.
  • Facemasks should be used to help prevent the spread of the disease to others.

What to do if sick?   If you have symptoms of fever, coughing, and shortness of breath and are concerned you may have risk factors for COVID-19, please call Southwest District Health’s COVID-19 line at 208-455-5411 or visit the Valor Health Triage Tent located at 1102 E Locust Street.
