CDC New Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People- Update 5/17/2021

Late last week, the CDC issued an updated guidance on masking for individuals who are fully vaccinated. Within their recommendation, people who are fully vaccinated can resume activities that they did prior to the pandemic. For full details, visit https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html

Also within this guidance, the CDC states that this does not apply within healthcare settings. With this consideration, Valor Health will not be changing our current masking and distancing policies at this time.  Valor Health will continue to limit and screen visitors, as well as require masks and physical distancing for all individuals, when inside our hospital and clinics.

COVID Vaccine Waitlist and Scheduling FAQ- Update 02/17/2021

  • Now that I am on the Waitlist, how long will it take for an appointment to be available?  It is difficult to predict.  Availability is dependent on the allocation of vaccines from SWDH and demand in the community. It could take up to several weeks.
  • I don’t have an email address, how do I sign up?  An email address is required.  You can reach out to a friend, relative, or trusted neighbor who would be willing to assist and communicate these messages.
  • What happens if I miss my scheduling window? Once vaccinations are available, an event will be scheduled and you will receive an email to schedule your appointment. You will be able to sign up for an appointment until 11:59pm the day before the event. If you do not register for an appointment during this window, you will need to re-register on the Gem County Waitlist.
  • How do I confirm my vaccine appointment date/time?  Check your email for a confirmation. A reminder email will be sent to your email a day or two prior to the event.
  • How do I change my appointment? Once you sign up at Idaho PrepMod, you will receive a confirmation email. This email will include a link to change or cancel your appointment. You will be able to change your appointment time if there are open appointment times available. You will not be able to change your event date.
  • What happens if I miss my appointment?   You will need to re-register on the Gem County Waitlist.

Understanding mRNA Vaccine

mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine to protect against infectious diseases. To trigger an immune response, many vaccines put a weakened or inactivated germ into our bodies. Not mRNA vaccines. Instead, they teach our cells how to make a protein—or even just a piece of a protein—that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response, which produces antibodies, is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies.
