COVID Vaccination Information

The Idaho COVID Vaccine Advisory Committee (CVAC) was created to help determine the prioritization of the vaccine when it is in limited supply.  They created a tiered system identifying those that would have access to receiving the vaccination first. This was recommended and supported by our local health districts.

If you qualify for the vaccination under the current guidelines, please sign up on the Gem County Vaccine Waitlist. You will be contacted by EMAIL when vaccinations are available to you through Valor Health.

COVID Vaccine Waitlist and Scheduling FAQ- Update 02/17/2021

  • Now that I am on the Waitlist, how long will it take for an appointment to be available?  It is difficult to predict.  Availability is dependent on the allocation of vaccines from SWDH and demand in the community. It could take up to several weeks.
  • I don’t have an email address, how do I sign up?  An email address is required.  You can reach out to a friend, relative, or trusted neighbor who would be willing to assist and communicate these messages.
  • What happens if I miss my scheduling window? Once vaccinations are available, an event will be scheduled and you will receive an email to schedule your appointment. You will be able to sign up for an appointment until 11:59pm the day before the event. If you do not register for an appointment during this window, you will need to re-register on the Gem County Waitlist.
  • How do I confirm my vaccine appointment date/time?  Check your email for a confirmation. A reminder email will be sent to your email a day or two prior to the event.
  • How do I change my appointment? Once you sign up at Idaho PrepMod, you will receive a confirmation email. This email will include a link to change or cancel your appointment. You will be able to change your appointment time if there are open appointment times available. You will not be able to change your event date.
  • What happens if I miss my appointment?   You will need to re-register on the Gem County Waitlist.

COVID Vaccine Updates- 2/12/2021

Valor Health, in partnership with the County Emergency Operations Center, is offering a CLOSED vaccination clinic to Tier 1 and Tier 2 individuals, including healthcare and child care workers, first responders, educational staff, and those aged 65 and older.*

At this event, we plan to administer 200 Moderna vaccinations to qualified individuals who had signed up through the Gem County Emergency Operations Center or Valor Health. Our staff and volunteers have been working hard to contact and schedule these individuals. To date we have administered 100% of the vaccines received, totalling over 700 vaccinations.

After the completion of the closed scheduling events, we will move forward with a public Gem County Vaccine Waitlist and open scheduling events. This list will be available to Gem County residents who qualify within Tier 1 and Tier 2 guidelines. The link to register for this waitlist will be made available on this page, shared via our social media, and posted in the local paper. All participants must have a valid email address for scheduling communications.

We appreciate your support and patience. More information will be coming soon.*- Curious where you fall on the list? Check out

Understanding mRNA Vaccine

mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine to protect against infectious diseases. To trigger an immune response, many vaccines put a weakened or inactivated germ into our bodies. Not mRNA vaccines. Instead, they teach our cells how to make a protein—or even just a piece of a protein—that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response, which produces antibodies, is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies.
