Zachary Bastian, MD FACS is a Boise, Idaho native who knew at an early age that he wanted to be a surgeon. After graduating from the University of Idaho he studied medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. It was during that time that he met his talented wife, Dr. Allison Bastian. Together the two moved to North Dakota where Dr. Bastian completed his residency in General Surgery, with an emphasis on Rural Surgery. Finally, after more than 10 years away from home, Drs. Bastian returned to Idaho, along with their infant daughter, eager to start their new lives and careers.
Fast forward some years and Dr. Zachary Bastian has now been working full-time in Emmett for the past 4 years and serves as the VH Director of Surgery. When not performing surgery, Dr. Bastian loves to spend time outdoors with his family, hiking, and camping. He likes to work with his hands and is known at home for being a craftsman, gardener, and handyman.
A few questions for Dr. Bastian:
What do your patients say?
“I tend to spend a lot of time talking to patients. People have told me I am a good listener, that I am direct and speak frankly, but with genuine care.”
What would you like your patients to know about you?
“I care about the success of Valor Health and about the community I serve. A community hospital is an essential part of a small town like Emmett. Rural communities across this country have seen major economic changes… one industry that is indispensable for a town like Emmett is healthcare and the foundation of healthcare is the community hospital.”
