The last time you visited your healthcare provider you may have heard the term Electronic Health Record (EHR). These electronic records offer an easy, digital way for healthcare teams and patients to access records and share information.
What is an Electronic Health Record?
An Electronic Health Record is a digital storage of a patient’s total health history. An EHR can be shared with other medical facilities, within the Valor Health system, and with other healthcare organizations. Patients can access their Personal Health Records (PHR), which is the same information found in an EHR, through a patient portal.
Valor Health has been using Cerner as its Electronic Health Record since 2017. This has provided a great benefit to Valor Health patients, as it allows a collective database of a patient’s health history, easily accessible by doctor and patient alike. Whether you come into the emergency room or visit your primary care provider for a wellness exam, any updates made to your medical record that will be seen by the next member of your healthcare team. This provides a safer and more efficient way to provide care to our patients.
Patients can view much of their health information from their own home, by accessing their Personal Health Records (PHR) through the MyLife Valor Health patient portal. Patients will have access to vital signs, laboratory and radiology results, discharge summaries, medication lists and more. Patients can also interact with their healthcare team by sending direct messages, requesting appointments or asking questions.
Next time you visit your doctor, speak to them about the patient portal. Sign up is easy, and our friendly staff is eager to help you understand the benefits of our Electronic Health Record and the patient portal.
