Family Medicine
Jon Hlavinka, MD
Dr. Jon Hlavinka joins Valor Health Family Medicine, offering our patients increased access to primary care services. Born to a rural family physician, Dr. Hlavinka began his healthcare
journey at a young age, joining his father on hospital rounds and eventually becoming a hospital orderly and then a paramedic for the volunteer ambulance service.
Dr Hlavinka spent time practicing medicine in remote Alaska and served as the medical director for the Kodiak Island Native Association. He would travel by amphibious planes to secluded villages to care for his patients. Upon starting his family, he moved back to the lower 48 and joined a clinic in Nampa that eventually became Saltzer Health. Over the span of his career, Dr. Hlavinka has provided care for all ages of patients, from birth through life, and specializes in adult chronic care.
When not serving his patients and community, Dr. Hlavinka can be found enjoying the great Idaho outdoors. His passions include skiing, camping, biking, hiking, kayaking, and photography. He also spends time on his hobby farm with his chickens, goats, and garden.
Access to primary care is important for you and your family. As we work to recruit new permanent providers, we are excited to welcome Dr. Jon Hlavinka to our Family Medicine team to help increase appointment availability during this transition. Dr. Hlavinka has over 30 years of experience and will provide interim care at our clinic through 2025.

Jennifer King, DNP
Dr. Jennifer King is a Doctor of Nursing Practice with over 25 years of experience in healthcare. She graduated from Graceland University with a master's in science of nursing in 2014 and Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions with a Doctor of Nursing Science in 2016.
She also holds a Bachelor of Science focusing on Human Resource Management. She has been practicing in Treasure Valley since 2014, caring for people of all ages. She especially enjoys serving the pediatric population beginning at birth; however, she does treat all ages. Dr. King has practiced mainly in the Treasure Valley, focusing on rural areas. However, she did have an 18-month stent in Spokane during the COVID-19 epidemic, where she floated to many of the corporate clinics. It was in Spokane that she became familiar with transgender care and the homeless population, giving her a new insight into her practice. She returned to the Treasure Valley in 2021. In her practice, Dr. King specializes in treating migraines, pediatrics, and nutrition. She enjoys incorporating medicine with preventive measures to obtain the best health possible for her patients. She also treats transgender care and hormone replacement therapy for men.
Outside of work, she enjoys riding one of her six "Paint" horses, on which she competes in barrel racing and carries sponsor flags in many of the local rodeos. She has also been happily married to her husband for over twenty years and has five children and, soon to be, five grandchildren.
Dr. King recently left Saltzer Health and chose Valor Health because it focuses on patient-led healthcare.
