Ortho | Sports MedicineDr. Ryan Applonie is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He practices general orthopedics with a special focus on complex shoulder and elbow conditions, including arthroscopy, joint replacement, and fracture care.
Dr. Applonie completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Michigan State University- McLaren Macomb Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, in 2018, where he served as chief resident during his final year. He went on to complete a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the University of Connecticut in 2019.
After returning to Idaho in 2019, Dr. Applonie became an independent orthopedic surgeon and partner at Capital Surgical Associates in Boise. In addition to his private practice, he provides call coverage with the Adult Orthopedic Trauma Group at St. Luke’s Boise and Meridian. Dr. Applonie is excited to work with Valor Health to provide expert orthopedic care in Emmett alongside other independent orthopedic surgeons from the Treasure Valley.
An Idaho native raised in Idaho Falls, Dr. Applonie enjoys spending time skiing, hiking, camping, and fishing. He is an avid soccer fan and continues to play competitively.
