Valor Health has added five providers to its Orthopedics and Sports Medicine program and introduced new equipment and surgical capabilities aimed at expanding orthopedic care options in Gem County.
According to a Valor Health press release, the new providers include board-certified orthopedics and sports medicine surgeons, as well as certified physician assistants (PA-C):
- Ryan Applonie, DO
- Tim Neuschwander, MD
- Ray Jensen, DO
- Amy Chan, PA-C; provides assistance and follow-up care appointments
- Katy Laible, PA-C; provides assistance and follow-up care appointments
The three orthopedic surgeons specialize in hips and knees, shoulders and elbows, carpal tunnel, trigger finger and cubital tunnel procedures. The hospital said it has also added equipment intended to support less invasive procedures and improve patient outcomes.
“The recent improvements to our ortho and sports medicine program highlight our commitment to providing the highest quality care, while maintaining local accessibility,” Valor Health CEO Brad Turpen said in the release. “By welcoming additional providers and expanding program capabilities, our organization is better positioned to serve our patients’ current and future needs.”
Dr. Ryan Applonie, medical director of Valor Health Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, said the expansion will help meet growing demand for orthopedic services in the region.

Applonie highlighted that the hospital has added the VELYS robotic-assisted system and adopted anterior hip replacement techniques, which he said can improve surgical precision and reduce recovery times.
