Dr. Van Nieuwenhuyzen (Dr. Van) is licensed as a Physician by the Idaho State Board of Medicine and is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, in Sacramento, CA, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Dordt University in Sioux Center, IA. Dr. Van completed her rural health family medicine residency with Full Circle Health Family Medicine in Caldwell, Idaho in 2025.
She is a board member of the Idaho Rural Health Association and a member of the Idaho Medical Association, the Gold Humanism Honor Society, the Christian Medical and Dental Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians, and the American Medical Association.
Dr. Van’s interest in medicine was sparked in early childhood, as she helped care for her mother who faced serious medical conditions. Her goal is to deliver holistic care, focusing on lifestyle changes and incorporating medical management when necessary. She values the meaningful connections she has built with her patients and their families, reflecting her belief in fostering strong, long-term relationships as a foundation for effective care.
When not seeing patients at Valor Health Family Medicine, Dr. Van enjoys farming, gardening, reading, writing, spending time with her family, crafts like painting and needlepoint, and exploring the outdoors.
